Instead of Buckets

Most people write bucket lists for all the things they want to accomplish in the year ahead.

Over the holidays many people take the downtime or one or two days after Christmas, going into New Year’s Eve to reflect on what they hope for the new year.

I’m inviting you to think more about what you’re going to let go of and cheekily join me in calling it your 2014 Fuckit List.

Pardon the swear.

But really.

Really.

How often do we suspend ourselves and forward momentum in a state of doing things when what we really need is to put a few things down.

More than a few, in my case.

Which is why I’m doing this and inviting you to start thinking about it now.

I do still heartily encourage taking a good look at what you want to see happen and making note of all the things you’re headed for.

While spending a few moments before that point in time asking:

What have I been carrying around this year that’s weighed me down?

What am I no longer willing to tolerate?

What can I release to finally feel free?

You are enough and truthfully, all you need to bring with you into the new year fits in your arms, your hands, your eyes and your heart.

Bring those things with you.

To the rest of it?

Join me in saying, f**k it to the things that don’t matter and hell yes, to yourself.

I know I’m a little early, but I wanted to give you some food for thought for the next few weeks leading up to January 1.

I will be posting my list in the next few days but in the mean time,

what are you ready to let go of?
